AQMD Permitting
South Coast AQMD Permitting Information
In California, certain projects require a government agency to assess the environmental impacts of the project before the agency can decide on project approval. This assessment is completed pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). The process includes opportunities for public input during the review of the project.
For Marathon’s proposed Los Angeles Refinery Modernization Projects, the South Coast Air Quality Management District (South Coast AQMD) will be leading the CEQA process and will complete an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the projects.
Where is the project in the process?
The South Coast AQMD is preparing a Notice of Preparation (NOP) of a draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) and Initial Study (IS) for the Los Angeles Refinery Modernization Projects.
Marathon is committed to transparency, and we want to make this process as open and inclusive as possible. From the issuance of the NOP/IS to the release of the final EIR, Marathon wants the public to be informed. Your input is very valuable to this process.
